Once the inspection has been completed, commissioning takes place in 2 stages:

  • A battery formatting stage.

  • A rapid inspection stage after formatting, followed by commissioning.
  • The formatting phase consists of directly connecting the photovoltaic field to the battery, without regulating the charge, for a period calculated according to the weather prospects for the next few days and the location of the site. This operation is vital to the health of the battery. It has a determining effect on the battery's life expectancy. If formatting does not take place, the batteries may suffer premature damage.

N.B: During this phase, the battery may reach a very high voltage level; this does not harm the battery but may damage the equipment downstream. We therefore strongly recommend that you disconnect this equipment (including the inverter).

Following this stage, you can finally commission the installation. However, you are advised to make one last quick check of the installation. During this check, density and battery voltage measurements may show that the battery is fully charged and trials will help you check that the energy conversion equipment is working properly.

Some energy management systems, such as µFunctions, allow you to commission the equipment automatically.

When commissionning the installation, the user should be informed about how his generator works and what its limitations are; he should also be given guidance in basic maintenance and safety. He should also receive a set of instructions on how to use and maintain his generator.
